Temporary RegistrationThis section is for applicants who wish to undertake post graduate nursing studies in Victoria and require registration to undertake the clinical component of their course. Pursuant to s. 7(1)(d) Health Professions Registration Act 2005 the Board is able to provide specific (restricted) registration to applicants who wish to undertake nursing education in Victoria with the aim of returning to their country of origin. Temporary registration is granted upon request to nurses who may not have the required educational or English preparation to be granted unrestricted registration in Victoria in the first instance. Therefore, a condition of temporary registration includes working under direct supervision whilst undertaking the clinical component of the education program. Temporary Registration can only be granted for 12 months from the date of the initial registration. Registrants requiring a longer registration period must re-apply for re-registration of Temporary Registration prior to the expiry of their current registration and pay the required fee. An application for “Re-registration of Temporary Registration” can be found below. If applicants later wish to apply for full registration in Victoria, they will be assessed and will be required to meet both the English language and clinical competence requirements of other applicants from the same country of origin.
