Management TeamRegistrationThis program maintains the Victorian Register of nurses; particularly ensuring registrants meet all legislative and educational requirements. This allows to Board to fulfil its core mission of protecting the public by ensuring only those qualified are registered and legally able to use the title of registered nurse (RN)
Manager: June Hodge RN (div 1), Midwife, BN, MHM (Master Health Management) June enjoys working with the staff in the Registration Program and has been involved in its continuing growth, improving standards and maintaining a high quality of customer service.
Professional ConductAs a self-regulatory statutory authority, the NBV manages the complaints process through its Professional Conduct program, investigating all complaints received, as well as initiating some matters of its own. Complaints may deal with the professional conduct or health of nurses and midwives.
Manager: Maureen Dillon RN (div 1), Midwife, BHealthSc(Nursing), MHSc, Cert Infection Control, Associate Diploma Social Science (Welfare Studies), AdvDipCounselling Before joining the Board in August 2007, Maureen held the position of Deputy Director of Nursing and has extensive hospital experience as a registered nurse and midwife in metropolitan, regional, and rural hospitals, as well as Nurse Education in both the hospital and university sectors. She has more than 40 years experience in nursing. Maureen joined the Board as a Nurse Policy Officer in the Registration Department and late this year was appointed Manager of the Professional Conduct Program. This is her first year reporting as manager of this program.
Finance & Corporate SupportThis program is responsible for all accounting and investment matters, ensuring the NBV can successfully carry out and continually improve its business. It also ensures the best people are employed for the various positions and staff is well resourced, acts within the Code of Conduct and works in a safe and productive environment. Matters regarding sustainability and environmental concerns are also part of this program, as are all those regarding IT resources available to staff and stakeholders.
Manager: Neil Smith CA. Neil Smith is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in the health sector. He has extensive experience in the private hospital sector in health costing, management reporting as well as business and performance improvement. Neil has also worked in international trade and chartered accountancy roles. In his two years with the NBV he has overseen the implementation of sophisticated new IT systems, ensuring the business is managed efficiently, while remaining compliant with legislation and operating in a transparent manner. His role also includes the stewardship of the NBV’s financial resources.
Policy, Research & Practice StandardsThe program oversees development of Board policy, including documentation and data, as well as quality control, and areas of communication. It co-ordinates external reviewers for the approval of education providers, as well as co-ordinating external reviewers before recommending to the Board recipients of research grants and fellowships. Communications, co-ordination, and consultation with industry and stakeholders to review practice standards are also part of this program
