Endorsement Applications - Medication Administration

This section is for applicants who are applying for registration or are currently registered in division 2 who may be eligible for endorsement in medication administration. Prior to submitting the form please read carefully the Checklist of Requirements and Information Sheet included in the application form to ensure that you have the qualifications required.

The ‘Course in Medication Administration for division 2 registered nurses in Victoria’ and the recently accredited ‘Certificate IV in Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 nursing)’ introduced in January 2008 are the only courses approved by the Board which lead to endorsement of division 2 registration for medication management.

This legally authorises the endorsed division 2 registered nurse to administer medications across all Schedules (including a drug of dependence, Schedule 4 poison, Schedule 8 poison or Schedule 9 poison).

Currently, division 2 registered nurses are either endorsed to administer medications by topical and enteral routes only or they may be endorsed to administer medications by topical, enteral, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes. This can be checked on the division 2 registered nurse’s registration card or on the Nurses Board of Victoria public register.
