Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) National Regulation

The Victorian CPD audit selection has now closed with a total of 1805 nurses or midwives being randomly selected to participate in the audit. As National Regulation is being implemented 1 July 2010, the Victorian CPD audit is now coming to an end.

National Regulation is a new single system of national registration and accreditation. It is aimed at promoting a more flexible, responsive and sustainable health workforce for the Australian Community. This new regulation process will involve changes to legislation which provides a framework for nurses and midwives in Victoria.

One of the changes proposed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) will be the requirement that all nurses and midwives are required to participate in 20 hours of CPD on an annual basis and annual auditing will be conducted to ensure compliance. It is therefore important that you continue to maintain your CPD portfolio into the future, as it is a process that will assist you to maintain currency of practice and provide a continuous record of your professional development activities.
