Return to Practice Program

The return to practice courses can be provided by Universities, TAFE's and Health Services. For nurses whose registration has lapsed for a period of more than five years in division 1, division 2, division 3 and/or seek re-recognition of an additional qualification in midwifery or psychiatric nursing, the completion of a program at an NBV approved facility is recommended in order for nurses to re-register.

The program consists of a minimum of 240 hours to a maximum of 480 hours, including a minimum of 80 theory hours.

Nurses who have been previously registered in Victoria and have had a lapse in registration are required to successfully complete a return to practice course. An application for re-registration must be submitted to the NBV registration program to determine which return to practice program must be completed.
