Approved programs leading to registration and endorsement

Division 2

Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Nursing course delivered by an approved education provider leads to registration as an endorsed division 2 registered nurse. The course can be delivered either via a full time / part time mode or as a traineeship. Registered Training Organisations must be approved by the Board to deliver the approved course in each mode of delivery for each campus. Following completion of the course students must apply to the Nurses Board of Victoria for registration.

Division 2 for Bachelor of Nursing Students

Bachelor of Nursing students are able to continue to apply for registration in division 2 of the register under section 5(1)(ab) of the Health Professions Registration Act 2005. This allows undergraduates who have successfully completed Year 2 of their degree to work as a registered nurse division 2 in health related areas while continuing their studies.

Initial Registration Courses for Overseas Qualified Nurses

Overseas qualified nurses seeking registration in Victoria may be required by the Board to successfully complete an initital registration course. The Board assesses each overseas qualified nurse on an individual basis and determines the necessary English language testing and initial registration course requirements.
