RN, CCRN, BAppSc (Nursing), MHA, AFACHSE, GAICD, MRCNA

In his more than 23 year's experience - clinical, academic and managerial - in the health sector, Nigel is uniquely positioned to lead the Nurses Board of Victoria as it heads for the Federal Government's nationalisation of 10 Health Boards in July 2010.

Beginning his career as a registered nurse while in his teens, Nigel's prior position before being appointed as CEO of the NBV, was General Manager, Operations, of the Red Cross Blood Service in Victoria and Tasmania, a service accounting for 25% of Australia's blood supply.

Holding a degree in Nursing and a Masters in Health Administration, Nigel studied at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh's Beckworth Institute, one of the world's leading academic medical centres which focuses on future change and developing leadership qualities and skills to meet such change.

He was also awarded a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School to attend programs for senior nurse managers and CEO development.

Clinically, Nigel has worked in all aspects of high dependency patient care, while his career has also seen him in several senior managerial roles within public, private, and non government organisations across both South Australia and Victoria.

Nigel is a keen advocate of nationalising the Health Registration Boards, as well as the regulation, education and growth of the nursing profession in this particularly dynamic environment.
