Applying for Registration

Our core responsibility to the public is to ensure all nurses are fully qualified and competent before they ultimately gain Board approval, and use the title Registered Nurse (RN).

All Nurses will have a particular category of registration (general, specific, provisional, interim or non-practising) and will be registered within a Division (divisions 1-5). Divisions 3-5 (inclusive) were closed to new applications pursuant to section 7(3) of the Nurses Act 1993 (NA) and remain closed to applicants that were not entitled to such registration under the NA.

In order for your application to be assessed, a completed application form together with the payment of fees must be received by the Nurses Board of Victoria. Once these have been received, all applicants for registration as a nurse in Victoria must fulfill the requirements of the Board’s current policies for a completed application.
